Going Green

With Earth Day, April 22^nd right around the corner, one can’t help but think about ways to go “green”. For instance, have you ever wondered about purchasing or leasing an electric car ( EV)? If you have, maybe a couple of questions like these have popped into your mind:

1.) Which EV brand is best?

2.) Where can I charge my car?

3.) Can you still drive if your car is on the low end of being charged?

The above questions have shown up on many blogs and forums. We decided to find out these answers and share them with you.

First up, “Which brand is best?” well this is a subjective question; but the most popular     – thus far this year – electric vehicles purchased are the Tesla model S*, Nissan LEAF, and the BMWi3.

Next up, “Where do I charge my car?” after doing a bit of research, we found out that there is an app (click the link) for this –in addition to multiple sites that help guide you in the ways of driving an Electric Vehicle (EV):

Another great question is “Can you still drive if your car is on the low end of being charged?” the answer is “yes”. It is just like any other electronically charged device you own; the lower the charge, the sooner you need to charge it, but it still drives.

Self-driving car on the horizon?

Mercedez-Benz introduced the F015 Luxury in Motion, a car that will drive for you. It is a sleek and futuristic concept car that lets the robot deal with maps, bad weather and maybe even road rage.

This car may never actually see a highway and not many people could actually afford this car —  but the idea is now a not-to-distance reality.

Sounds good — machine versus machine — and passengers can take a nap.  We’ll see how this goes.

Gordon, Keselowski Brawl After Texas 500

Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski, both former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions, scuffled on and off the track during Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.  

After the race, Gordon pulled alongside Keselowski’s car on pit road, sprung out of his vehicle and confronted the Team Penske driver. The encounter between the two drivers quickly escalated as a physical brawl ensued between the drivers, as well as crewmen from both teams. Both drivers suffered cuts to their faces.  

The on-track incident occurred on lap 332 of the 334-lap event as the caution flag came out for an accident involving Clint Bowyer. Gordon, the points leader heading into Texas, was in the lead, with Jimmie Johnson, Gordon’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate in second, and Keselowski in third on the restart.  

Gordon chose the outside lane for the restart and ended up losing the lead to Johnson. Shortly after, Keselowski brushed Gordon’s left side causing a flat tire and the unavoidable spin.  

Keselowski went on to finish in third and now stands seventh in points while Gordon finished 29^th, moving him to fourth in points. Both drivers are fighting for one of four spots in the Championship Round of this year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup at Homestead Miami Speedway. With this scuffle, Gordon becomes the second competitor in four races to confront the 2012 champion Keselowski.
